ABOUT THE CLUB
We are one of the oldest tennis clubs on the Costa Brava. Founded by a group of tennis-loving friends and the desire to have a space to practice it. It is currently the sports club with the best tennis and padel courts in the Baix Empordà.
History
The Calonge Tennis Club was born as a sports entity, on November 11th 1973.
Its founders were a group of friends who came together to acquire some land located next to the Calonge sports area (about 20,000 m ² ), which had been offered to them by the mayor of Calonge, and found a club social and sports where you can meet and practice sports.
Messrs. Eudald Travé, Vicenç Quer, Jaume Albors, Alfonso Matheu, Santiago Buscató, Maria Vulor, Josep M. Castelló, Lluís Culubret, Joan Darnaculleta, Adolfo Espinosa, Miquel Olivé, Josep Petit, Benito Prieto, Joan Salvador and Pere Vidal those in charge of carrying out the construction of the club.
Our beginnings
Initially, with two quick tracks (competitions) began to organize competitions and arouse the interest of the calongins for the Club.
In addition to the social championships, in the summer of 1975 a competition for children and cadets was organized under the name of Quer-Petit.
The club has hosted players of the prestige of the brothers Sánchez Vicario, Carlos Costa, Francesc Roig and Tommy Robredo.
In 2006, the “OPEN VILA DE CALONGE” was born, which has been held annually in the summer, with the collaboration of Calonge City Council and Girona Provincial Council, and which brings together male and female tennis players located among the top 200 in the ranking of the Spanish Tennis Federation.
